DAYTONA BEACH, FL (July 1, 2011) – Starting Aug. 22, Daytona State College will offer an evening class option at its Deltona Campus. Classes meet Monday to Friday, from 4 to 10 p.m.
According to program Assistant Chair Barbara Petrock, “The nine-week Cosmetology I (COS0080L) is a great introduction to the Cosmetology program and transitions immediately to Cosmetology II (COS0081L) to complete the fall semester. The evening course schedule has been very well received on the Daytona Beach Campus and we look forward to serving the West Volusia community with this convenient class option.”
The Cosmetology program at Daytona State is a 40-hour vocational credit program taught in five segments. It provides the knowledge and skills necessary to pass Florida's licensure examination for cosmetologists. Our curriculum incorporates the industry's most advanced training and educational systems. Specialized classroom activities include intensive study of cosmetology law, ethics, cosmetic chemistry, hair styling, salon management and more.
Students acquire skills and technical knowledge through planned, supervised lab activities, using hair mannequins to perform initial exercises and later performing services for clients in the College's state-of-the-art cosmetology training salon.
Students who do not have a standard high school diploma may be eligible for admission into this program provided they meet certain other criteria. Financial aid also is available to qualified students.
